Itinerary

Arrive in Mumbai, India’s bustling metropolis. You’ll be welcomed by our representative and escorted to your hotel. After rest, set out to discover the charm of the Gateway of India, Marine Drive, and the grand Victoria Terminus (UNESCO-listed).

In the evening, enjoy a drive along the Queen’s Necklace as the city lights reflect on the Arabian Sea. Mumbai’s cosmopolitan energy and colonial heritage provide the perfect start to your southern voyage.

After breakfast, explore Mumbai’s highlights — Dhobi Ghat, Mani Bhavan Gandhi Museum, and the colorful Crawford Market. Later, fly to Bangalore, the Garden City of India. On arrival, check in at your hotel and relax.

If time allows, take an evening walk through UB City or sample local delicacies at a traditional South Indian restaurant. The day blends metropolitan sophistication with the first glimpse of southern hospitality.

Start your day with visits to Lalbagh Botanical Garden, Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace, and Vidhana Soudha, an architectural symbol of modern Karnataka. Each site reflects a different era — Mughal influence, British planning, and contemporary pride.

Spend the afternoon visiting Cubbon Park or browsing handicraft stores for sandalwood carvings and silk. Evening leisure allows time for a relaxed dinner before preparing for tomorrow’s drive toward Mysore’s royal elegance.

After breakfast, drive to Mysore, stopping en route at Srirangapatna, Tipu Sultan’s historic island fortress. Continue to Mysore and check into your heritage hotel.

Later, visit the majestic Mysore Palace, an Indo-Saracenic masterpiece illuminated by thousands of bulbs after sunset. Evening free to explore the local markets famous for Mysore silk and sandalwood products.

Begin the day with a trip to Chamundi Hill, offering panoramic views of the city, and visit the sacred Chamundeshwari Temple. Then explore St. Philomena’s Church and Brindavan Gardens, where musical fountains light up the night.

The relaxed pace of Mysore lets you enjoy both spirituality and artistry — the fragrance of incense, the colors of flower markets, and the warmth of local hospitality.

Depart Mysore after breakfast and drive to Hassan, the gateway to the Hoysala architectural wonders. On arrival, check into your hotel and refresh before heading to Belur and Halebidu.

Admire the intricate stone carvings of Chennakesava Temple and Hoysaleswara Temple, masterpieces of 12th-century craftsmanship. Return to Hassan for dinner and an overnight stay surrounded by echoes of South India’s artistic past.

After breakfast, proceed toward Hampi, once the glorious capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. The drive unfolds scenic countryside and small villages that preserve Karnataka’s rural charm. Check into your hotel upon arrival.

In the evening, visit the riverside ruins of Virupaksha Temple to witness sunset over the Tungabhadra River — a breathtaking introduction to Hampi’s mystical landscape.

After breakfast, spend the day exploring the extraordinary Hampi ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that once formed the capital of one of India’s most powerful empires. Begin with the Vittala Temple, famous for its stone chariot and musical pillars, then continue to the Hazara Rama Temple, Lotus Mahal, and Elephant Stables — remnants that echo stories of devotion, art, and valor.

In the afternoon, climb Matanga Hill or Hemakuta Hill for a panoramic view of the boulder-strewn landscape glowing under the evening sun. Hampi’s surreal terrain and majestic ruins blend spirituality and silence in equal measure — an unforgettable day amid living history.

After breakfast, drive to Badami, located in northern Karnataka. The journey passes through picturesque countryside and small villages dotted with traditional homes. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and unwind before setting out to explore the ancient Badami Caves.

These 6th-century rock-cut temples are masterpieces of early Chalukyan architecture, dedicated to Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist deities. Admire the delicate carvings depicting mythological scenes and deities like Shiva and Vishnu. End the day with a walk by Agastya Lake, where the reflection of the cave temples shimmers against the golden dusk.

After breakfast, take a full-day excursion to Pattadakal and Aihole, two historical sites that together form the cradle of Indian temple architecture. In Aihole, explore ancient temples that showcase the early experiments of stone-carving artisans, and in Pattadakal, marvel at a UNESCO-listed complex blending northern and southern architectural styles.

Return to Badami by evening for a relaxed dinner at your hotel. The day’s journey through temple trails gives a deep insight into India’s early artistic evolution, making this one of the most rewarding segments of your South India Tour.

After breakfast, depart for Goa, the pearl of India’s western coast. The long yet scenic drive transitions from rugged red cliffs to palm-lined beaches and turquoise waters. Upon arrival, check into your beach resort and take time to unwind.

Evening leisure on the sands of Calangute or Baga Beach introduces you to Goa’s easy-going rhythm — soft sea breeze, live music, and golden sunsets. After a week of history and heritage, Goa’s calm waves bring an effortless change of pace.

Begin your day exploring Old Goa, once a bustling center of Portuguese trade and culture. Visit Basilica of Bom Jesus, which houses the relics of St. Francis Xavier, and Se Cathedral, known for its majestic baroque architecture. Continue to Fontainhas, the Latin Quarter of Panjim, with colorful colonial houses and winding lanes echoing European charm.

Spend the afternoon by the Mandovi River promenade or enjoy a river cruise with Goan folk music and traditional seafood dinner. The mix of Indian warmth and Iberian grace makes Goa’s heritage truly unique.

Today is entirely for relaxation. You can choose to sunbathe on Palolem Beach, shop at the Anjuna Flea Market, or visit local spice farms and cashew plantations. Adventurous travelers may opt for parasailing, kayaking, or dolphin-spotting cruises.

As the day winds down, enjoy a beachside sunset with your favorite drink and Goan music in the background. Goa’s laid-back charm, infused with laughter and ocean breeze, creates the perfect finale to your southern adventure.

After breakfast, transfer to Goa International Airport for your onward journey. The South India with Goa Tour concludes with unforgettable contrasts — ancient temples, royal palaces, and the soothing rhythm of the sea.

The memories of Hampi’s ruins, Badami’s carvings, and Goa’s sunsets linger long after you leave, reflecting the timeless magic of South India.

A tour of South India
We are recently back from a fine 10 day tour of South India – Goa, Kochi, the Kerala backwaters, a spice farm in the Western Ghats, the Madurai temples, and last but not least the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai. All done with class, excellent drivers (especially Mr. Jai Ram in Kerala) and tour guides. Organized by Magan Singh, Heritage India Private Tours. Perhaps a bit pricey but highly recommended for those who have the resources to invest in a guaranteed high quality experience with no inconveniences/surprises. The hotels were fantastic, especially the Taj in Mumbai (the tour of the hotel was fascinating).  ...Read More

Sit back & enjoy- everything is well organised
We are back from another amazing tour organised by the ever reliable Magan Singh. This was our 4th trip with Magan and again he didn't disappoint. This time we had an incredible time travelling north & spending time around Leh. We also enjoyed some travel through Bahu, Dalhousie, Alsisar, Khandela and Patan. Again the hotel stays were excellent, the vehicle was reliable, comfortable and well maintained. Our conversations & learning were excellent. Nothing is too much trouble for Magan and he is a great host & promoter of Indian tourism  ...Read More

Wonderful experience, thank you Heritage India Private Tours!
We have just completed a 19 day trip - Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Pushkar, Udaipur, Narlai, Jodhpur, Mandawa - and it has been a wonderful experience. Magan was excellent helping us plan the right itinerary for a family of 3, including our 12 year old daughter. His communication was always timely. And then the experience itself has been wonderful. So much of the “real India” to learn about and was shared with us. Each destination was well organised, our hotels were beautiful and staff welcoming. Magan was flexible where we needed to alter along the way - we would discuss each days plans and he helped us find the right plans for that day. He was always available if we needed him. We will definitely be returning for another itinerary and experience as soon as we can. Thank you so much Magan!  ...Read More

Magic Magan
This was my first tour with Maganbhai but my family’s second tour with his company. We spent two weeks touring Himachal Pradesh and Maganbhai is a consummate professional. As we started our planning, kicked into action with very detailed and family specific questions so that he could tailor the tour to our individual and collective requirements. Maganbhai made some excellent and knowledgeable recommendations and at every location we were given a choice of quality heritage hotels to pick from. As we were travelling as a group, we were given a top range minibus and our driver, Sahil, was very professional and took great care, especially on mountain roads. During our carefully planned tour Maganbhai shared with us his incredible knowledge of each location and historical significance. At each destination, our hotel / guest in check in was very smooth and quick and our rooms were always ready. Throughout each day, Maganbhai was always available for any requirement we had and also to answer all questions. His priority throughout was to ensure that everyone had a fantastic time. Even after we finished our tour but remained in country Maganbhai generously offered to be available for all family members for any issues we might have. PHT is a top end tour company led by a highly professional tour operator, offering value for money. I wholeheartedly recommend using PHT for Maganbhai to fully cater for your next trip to India.  ...Read More

Fantastic short trip in North India with group of friends
We had an amazing trip with Heritage India Private Tours, headed by Maghan! We were a group of 8 friends from Belgium going to Rishikesh for the wedding of a mutual friend. We only had 7 days to travel North India before the wedding festivities and Heritage Tours made sure that we could complete our busy itinerary carefree. Our driver Satnayaran was an excellent driver and a funny and helpful guide on our trip. He helped us with restaurant recommendations (the food court in Jaipur!!!), tips to travel safely and to buy local gifts, certainly in his hometown of Jaipur. We visited Jodpur, Pushkar (thank you to our local guide Manoj), Jaipur (with Rajesh Parasar as an excellent guide for the fort and old city center), and the Taj Mahal in Agra with Mohammed Tariq who took the besttttt instagram pictures. Finally, Maghan was available at every hour of the day to answer questions and to give us tips to navigate India.  ...Read More
