Shimla Manali Tour with Ladakh

Overview - Shimla Manali Tour with Ladakh

The Shimla Manali Tour with Ladakh – 19 Days connects three faces of the Indian Himalayas in one epic journey — the colonial charm of Shimla, the valley beauty of Manali, and the other-worldly landscapes of Ladakh. Beginning in Delhi, this adventure moves through Chandigarh’s modern grace and ascends to the pine-scented hills of Shimla before heading to Manali’s alpine meadows. From there, you cross high mountain passes to reach Jispa and Leh, gateway to the cold desert where Buddhist monasteries, glacial rivers, and azure lakes create scenery unlike any other on earth.
The route reveals India’s mountains in layers — from lush green slopes to barren plateaus above 12,000 ft. Travelers experience local Himalayan villages, ancient monasteries, and the famous lakes of Nubra and Pangong Tso before returning to Delhi. It’s a journey for those who wish to see the Himalayas in their fullest spectrum — culture, altitude, and tranquility combined.

Itinerary

Arrive at Delhi International Airport, where our representative greets you and assists with hotel transfer. Take time to rest after your journey. Delhi is a city of contrasts — ancient tombs, mughal forts, and modern boulevards set the tone for your Himalayan expedition.
If time permits, drive past India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan, and Connaught Place to see the capital lit up by night. Overnight stay in Delhi.

After breakfast, set out for a full-day tour of Delhi. In Old Delhi, visit Jama Masjid and ride a rickshaw through Chandni Chowk, soaking in its colors and aromas. Stop at Raj Ghat, the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi.
In the afternoon, tour Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, and the Lotus Temple. Drive through the avenues of Lutyens’ Delhi before returning to your hotel. Overnight stay in Delhi.

Drive north to Chandigarh, a modern city designed by Le Corbusier. The journey passes through fertile plains and small villages. On arrival, check in and begin your tour with the Rock Garden, a masterpiece of art and innovation built from recycled materials.
Later, visit Sukhna Lake for a peaceful boat ride or evening walk. The city’s clean design and lakeside calm make it a pleasant transition before the mountains. Overnight stay in Chandigarh.

After breakfast, drive to Kalka Station to board the UNESCO-listed toy train to Shimla. The narrow-gauge journey winds through tunnels, bridges, and pine valleys, offering panoramic mountain views.
Arrive in Shimla and check in to your hotel. Spend the evening strolling along Mall Road and visiting The Ridge for sunset scenes over the Himalayas. Overnight stay in Shimla.

After breakfast, visit Jakhoo Temple, Christ Church, and the State Museum to get a glimpse of Shimla’s colonial past. The blend of British architecture and Himalayan serenity gives the town its timeless character.
Spend the afternoon walking through Scandal Point and Lakkar Bazaar, or relax at a heritage café overlooking the valleys. Overnight stay in Shimla.

Take a short drive to Kufri, a hill station known for snow views and deodar forests. Visit the Himalayan Nature Park and enjoy horse rides to viewpoints surrounded by pine trees.
Continue to Chail, home to the historic Chail Palace and the world’s highest cricket ground. Return to Shimla by evening. Overnight stay in Shimla.

Dedicate the day to local heritage. Visit Viceregal Lodge, a grand colonial building that once hosted British viceroys, and learn about India’s pre-independence history.
Later, enjoy tea at Wildflower Hall or Oberoi Cecil, each offering panoramic mountain vistas and old-world ambience. Evening free for shopping or photography. Overnight stay in Shimla.

After breakfast, drive to Manali, a breathtaking journey through river valleys, apple orchards, and pine forests. En route stop for tea along the Beas River and capture spectacular landscapes.
Arrive in Manali by evening, check in to your hotel, and relax in the fresh mountain air. The snow-dusted peaks and flowing streams create a calming ambience. Overnight stay in Manali.

After breakfast, begin your tour with the ancient Hadimba Temple, surrounded by tall cedars. Continue to Manu Temple and Vashisht Hot Springs, believed to have healing minerals.
In the afternoon, visit the Tibetan Monastery and browse Mall Road for woolens, handicrafts, and local souvenirs. Return to your hotel for a quiet evening by the fireplace. Overnight stay in Manali.

Take a morning drive to Solang Valley, renowned for its glacier views and adventure activities. Depending on season, enjoy paragliding, cable-car rides, or snow slides.
Later, return to Manali and spend the evening at leisure. This is your last night in Himachal’s green valleys before heading toward the rugged Himalayan plateau. Overnight stay in Manali.

After breakfast, begin your journey toward Jispa, a small Himalayan settlement on the banks of the Bhaga River. The route climbs through Rohtang Pass (13,050 ft) and winds past snow peaks, waterfalls, and mist-covered pine forests. Each turn reveals a shift from lush green slopes to barren mountain terrain.
Stop at Keylong, the district headquarters of Lahaul, to visit a local monastery and sip butter tea with friendly locals. Arrive in Jispa by afternoon and check into your mountain lodge or campsite. The crisp air, the silence of the river, and a sky full of stars make Jispa a perfect overnight halt before crossing into high-altitude Ladakh. Overnight stay in Jispa.

An early departure takes you through one of India’s most dramatic drives — Jispa to Leh via Baralacha La, Nakee La, Lachung La, and the breathtaking Tanglang La Pass (17,480 ft). The changing landscape, from glaciers to golden-brown ridges, feels like traveling through another world.
Stop en route at Sarchu, a vast plateau dotted with army camps and nomadic tents, where you can enjoy lunch and acclimatize. Continue toward Leh following the curves of the Indus River until you reach the capital of Ladakh by evening. Check into your hotel and rest after the long yet unforgettable Himalayan crossing. Overnight stay in Leh.

After breakfast, begin your day with a visit to Shey Palace, once the summer residence of Ladakh’s royal family. Continue to Thiksey Monastery, an impressive hilltop complex often compared to Tibet’s Potala Palace.
In the afternoon, visit the Shanti Stupa, a gleaming white dome overlooking Leh Town, and the Leh Palace, which offers panoramic views of the valley below. End your day strolling through the Leh Market, filled with Tibetan crafts, jewelry, and woolen shawls. Overnight stay in Leh.

Today’s journey crosses Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world at 18,380 ft. The air gets thinner, and the views expand into endless horizons of rugged peaks.
Descending into Nubra Valley, the scenery changes dramatically — sand dunes, poplar groves, and double-humped camels greet you. Check in to your camp or hotel in Hunder village and enjoy a calm evening under starlit skies. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.

After breakfast, drive to Turtuk, India’s northernmost village, located close to the Line of Control. The road runs beside the Shyok River, with cliffs rising sharply on either side.
Turtuk offers a glimpse of Baltistani culture, apricot orchards, and stone-roofed homes. Enjoy lunch at a local homestay before returning to Hunder by evening. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.

Spend your morning visiting Diskit Monastery, home to a 100-foot statue of Maitreya Buddha overlooking the valley. The view of dunes meeting snow peaks is mesmerizing.
Later, enjoy a camel ride on Hunder’s sand dunes, followed by relaxation at your camp. Evening free to walk through nearby villages and interact with local families. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.

After breakfast, drive toward the stunning Pangong Tso Lake, situated at 13,900 ft. The turquoise water changes shades of blue throughout the day, reflecting surrounding mountains.
Spend time along the shore capturing photographs and soaking in the peace before driving back to Leh via Chang La Pass. Check into your hotel and rest after a day of scenic adventure. Overnight stay in Leh.

Dedicate this day to Leh’s nearby cultural treasures. Visit Hemis Monastery, the largest in Ladakh, known for its colorful festival and ancient thangka art. Continue to Stok Palace Museum displaying royal artifacts and ceremonial costumes.
In the evening, enjoy free time shopping for Ladakhi jewelry, prayer flags, and carpets in the local market. Optional dinner at a rooftop café overlooking the city lights. Overnight stay in Leh.

After breakfast, transfer to Leh Airport for your flight back to Delhi. The short flight offers breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayas — a fitting farewell to your mountain odyssey.
Your Shimla Manali Ladakh Tour ends with cherished memories: pine forests, monasteries, high-altitude passes, turquoise lakes, and the warmth of Himalayan hospitality.

A tour of South India
We are recently back from a fine 10 day tour of South India – Goa, Kochi, the Kerala backwaters, a spice farm in the Western Ghats, the Madurai temples, and last but not least the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai. All done with class, excellent drivers (especially Mr. Jai Ram in Kerala) and tour guides. Organized by Magan Singh, Heritage India Private Tours. Perhaps a bit pricey but highly recommended for those who have the resources to invest in a guaranteed high quality experience with no inconveniences/surprises. The hotels were fantastic, especially the Taj in Mumbai (the tour of the hotel was fascinating).  ...Read More

Sit back & enjoy- everything is well organised
We are back from another amazing tour organised by the ever reliable Magan Singh. This was our 4th trip with Magan and again he didn't disappoint. This time we had an incredible time travelling north & spending time around Leh. We also enjoyed some travel through Bahu, Dalhousie, Alsisar, Khandela and Patan. Again the hotel stays were excellent, the vehicle was reliable, comfortable and well maintained. Our conversations & learning were excellent. Nothing is too much trouble for Magan and he is a great host & promoter of Indian tourism  ...Read More

Wonderful experience, thank you Heritage India Private Tours!
We have just completed a 19 day trip - Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Pushkar, Udaipur, Narlai, Jodhpur, Mandawa - and it has been a wonderful experience. Magan was excellent helping us plan the right itinerary for a family of 3, including our 12 year old daughter. His communication was always timely. And then the experience itself has been wonderful. So much of the “real India” to learn about and was shared with us. Each destination was well organised, our hotels were beautiful and staff welcoming. Magan was flexible where we needed to alter along the way - we would discuss each days plans and he helped us find the right plans for that day. He was always available if we needed him. We will definitely be returning for another itinerary and experience as soon as we can. Thank you so much Magan!  ...Read More

Magic Magan
This was my first tour with Maganbhai but my family’s second tour with his company. We spent two weeks touring Himachal Pradesh and Maganbhai is a consummate professional. As we started our planning, kicked into action with very detailed and family specific questions so that he could tailor the tour to our individual and collective requirements. Maganbhai made some excellent and knowledgeable recommendations and at every location we were given a choice of quality heritage hotels to pick from. As we were travelling as a group, we were given a top range minibus and our driver, Sahil, was very professional and took great care, especially on mountain roads. During our carefully planned tour Maganbhai shared with us his incredible knowledge of each location and historical significance. At each destination, our hotel / guest in check in was very smooth and quick and our rooms were always ready. Throughout each day, Maganbhai was always available for any requirement we had and also to answer all questions. His priority throughout was to ensure that everyone had a fantastic time. Even after we finished our tour but remained in country Maganbhai generously offered to be available for all family members for any issues we might have. PHT is a top end tour company led by a highly professional tour operator, offering value for money. I wholeheartedly recommend using PHT for Maganbhai to fully cater for your next trip to India.  ...Read More

Highly recommended for “Real India”
Fantastic 35 day trip in Rajastan and South India. Magan organised everything- great itinerary, amazing accomodation, excellent guides. Cars were brand new, very comfortable and expertly driven by Magan and Fateh. We felt more like valued friends than clients - Magan is passionate to showcase the “Real India”, and entertained us with jokes and stories along the way. Highlights included Tiger and leopard sightings in Kabini, romantic houseboat for two, dinner at Magans friends home, numerous stops for coconut, papaya, pineapple, guava, masala chai, lemon chai, masala dosa………We already plan to return (with friends) next year. Fantastic short trip in North India with group of friends
We had an amazing trip with Heritage India Private Tours, headed by Maghan! We were a group of 8 friends from Belgium going to Rishikesh for the wedding of a mutual friend. We only had 7 days to travel North India before the wedding festivities and Heritage Tours made sure that we could complete our busy itinerary carefree. Our driver Satnayaran was an excellent driver and a funny and helpful guide on our trip. He helped us with restaurant recommendations (the food court in Jaipur!!!), tips to travel safely and to buy local gifts, certainly in his hometown of Jaipur. We visited Jodpur, Pushkar (thank you to our local guide Manoj), Jaipur (with Rajesh Parasar as an excellent guide for the fort and old city center), and the Taj Mahal in Agra with Mohammed Tariq who took the besttttt instagram pictures. Finally, Maghan was available at every hour of the day to answer questions and to give us tips to navigate India.  ...Read More
