Itinerary

Arrive in Bangalore, the dynamic capital of Karnataka. You’ll be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for rest. Later, take an orientation drive through the city visiting Cubbon Park, Vidhana Soudha, and the elegant Bangalore Palace.

Evening time can be spent exploring MG Road’s lively cafés or trying authentic Karnataka cuisine such as ragi dosa and bisibele bath. The city’s blend of modern innovation and historical legacy sets the perfect beginning for your southern exploration.

After breakfast, drive toward Mysore, a city that reflects the grandeur of the Wodeyar dynasty. En route, stop at Srirangapatna, the historic island fortress of Tipu Sultan. On arrival in Mysore, check into your heritage hotel and relax.

In the evening, visit the illuminated Mysore Palace, one of India’s most beautiful royal residences. The intricate carvings, stained glass ceilings, and royal portraits tell stories of regal artistry. End your day at Brindavan Gardens, where musical fountains light up the night in rhythm with local tunes.

Spend the morning visiting Chamundi Hill, dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari, followed by the Mysore Zoo, one of India’s oldest and best-maintained. Later, explore the local Devaraja Market, filled with flowers, spices, and silk — a paradise for photographers.

Afternoon leisure allows you to visit art galleries and sandalwood workshops. As dusk falls, Mysore’s charm deepens with the fragrance of incense and jasmine in the air — the perfect close to a royal day.

Depart Mysore for Ooty, the “Queen of Hill Stations.” The road winds through the Nilgiri Hills, passing dense forests and waterfalls. Upon arrival, check into your colonial-era resort surrounded by rolling tea gardens and cool mountain air.

Spend your evening walking around Ooty Lake, taking a boat ride, or visiting the Botanical Garden with its vast collection of exotic plants. The relaxed pace of the hill town invites you to unwind amidst the whispering pines and eucalyptus groves.

After breakfast, take the Toy Train ride to Coonoor, a short but scenic journey that captures the Nilgiri charm. Visit Sim’s Park, Dolphin’s Nose Viewpoint, and tea estates where you can learn the art of tea production and taste freshly brewed varieties.

Return to Ooty for an evening at leisure. You can shop for homemade chocolates or enjoy a warm cup of tea overlooking mist-covered valleys. Ooty’s peaceful beauty, combined with its colonial past, makes it a destination of eternal grace.

After breakfast, descend from the hills toward Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu’s industrial yet culturally rich city. En route, stop to see picturesque villages and scenic waterfalls that adorn the route. On arrival, check into your hotel and unwind.

Later, visit Marudhamalai Temple, perched on a hill and known for its panoramic views. Coimbatore’s blend of spirituality and modern lifestyle makes it an interesting pause before crossing into Kerala’s lush landscapes.

After breakfast, continue your drive to Kochi (Cochin). Upon arrival, check into your hotel and rest. In the evening, head to Fort Kochi — stroll by the iconic Chinese Fishing Nets, explore St. Francis Church, and enjoy sunset views along the harbor.

The evening can be spent watching a Kathakali dance performance, an artistic portrayal of Kerala’s mythology through expressive gestures and costumes. Kochi’s air, heavy with sea breeze and history, makes it an ideal introduction to God’s Own Country.

After breakfast, begin your drive to Alleppey, known as the Venice of the East. On arrival, board your private Kerala houseboat, complete with furnished rooms and a personal chef. As the boat sails through calm canals, the landscape changes into a dreamlike scene — shimmering water, green paddy fields, and coconut groves swaying in rhythm with the breeze.

Lunch is freshly prepared on board using local ingredients and spices. You can relax on the deck, watching village life unfold at a slow pace — fishermen working, children waving, and birds gliding across the horizon. As night falls, the gentle sound of rippling water lulls you to sleep under a starry sky.

After breakfast on the houseboat, disembark and drive to Munnar, one of India’s most beautiful hill stations. The route passes through rubber plantations, spice farms, and misty valleys. Upon arrival, check into your resort surrounded by endless tea gardens and cool mountain air.

Spend your evening at leisure — enjoy a warm cup of tea at your balcony or walk through a nearby plantation trail. Munnar’s peaceful landscapes and mild climate create the perfect contrast to Kerala’s coastal beauty, blending relaxation with pure mountain freshness.

Start your day with a visit to Eravikulam National Park, home to the rare Nilgiri Tahr. Continue toward Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, and Kundala Lake, each offering panoramic views and tranquil boat rides.

Afternoon visits include the Tea Museum, where you’ll learn about Munnar’s colonial plantation history and taste freshly brewed local tea. The rest of the day is for leisure, perhaps with a visit to the local spice market or a quiet sunset view over the green slopes.

After breakfast, proceed to Thekkady, a land of fragrant plantations and wildlife sanctuaries. On arrival, check into your eco-resort surrounded by lush greenery. Afternoon sightseeing includes a guided spice plantation tour, where you’ll see how pepper, cardamom, and cloves are cultivated.

Evening options include attending a Kathakali dance show or a Kalaripayattu performance, the traditional martial art of Kerala. As night falls, the air fills with the earthy scent of rain-soaked soil and spices — the true essence of Thekkady.

Start early with a boat safari on Periyar Lake, watching elephants, sambar deer, and exotic birds in their natural habitat. Later, enjoy a nature walk through forest trails guided by local naturalists who explain the unique flora and fauna of the Western Ghats.

The afternoon can be spent shopping for organic spices and handmade souvenirs in local markets. Return to your resort in the evening and relax by a bonfire or enjoy a traditional Kerala meal under the stars.

After breakfast, cross into Tamil Nadu toward Madurai, one of India’s oldest living cities. The route gradually shifts from forested hills to temple-studded plains. On arrival, check into your hotel and rest.

In the evening, visit the sacred Meenakshi Amman Temple to witness the mesmerizing evening Aarti ceremony — a spiritual spectacle of lights, chants, and devotion that fills the temple complex with divine energy.

Begin your day exploring Meenakshi Amman Temple in daylight, admiring its vibrant sculptures and towering gopurams. Visit Thirumalai Nayak Palace, a masterpiece of Indo-Saracenic architecture, and the Gandhi Memorial Museum, which highlights India’s path to independence.

Afternoon is ideal for shopping — Madurai is famous for handcrafted brass lamps, jasmine garlands, and silk sarees. As night descends, enjoy a farewell dinner reflecting on your journey through South India’s temples, mountains, and coasts.

After breakfast, transfer to Madurai Airport for your onward flight. Your Enchanting Southern India Tour ends with countless memories — the sight of temple towers at sunrise, the taste of Kerala spices, and the echo of mountain breezes that define Southern India’s heart and heritage.

A tour of South India
We are recently back from a fine 10 day tour of South India – Goa, Kochi, the Kerala backwaters, a spice farm in the Western Ghats, the Madurai temples, and last but not least the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai. All done with class, excellent drivers (especially Mr. Jai Ram in Kerala) and tour guides. Organized by Magan Singh, Heritage India Private Tours. Perhaps a bit pricey but highly recommended for those who have the resources to invest in a guaranteed high quality experience with no inconveniences/surprises. The hotels were fantastic, especially the Taj in Mumbai (the tour of the hotel was fascinating).  ...Read More

Sit back & enjoy- everything is well organised
We are back from another amazing tour organised by the ever reliable Magan Singh. This was our 4th trip with Magan and again he didn't disappoint. This time we had an incredible time travelling north & spending time around Leh. We also enjoyed some travel through Bahu, Dalhousie, Alsisar, Khandela and Patan. Again the hotel stays were excellent, the vehicle was reliable, comfortable and well maintained. Our conversations & learning were excellent. Nothing is too much trouble for Magan and he is a great host & promoter of Indian tourism  ...Read More

Wonderful experience, thank you Heritage India Private Tours!
We have just completed a 19 day trip - Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Pushkar, Udaipur, Narlai, Jodhpur, Mandawa - and it has been a wonderful experience. Magan was excellent helping us plan the right itinerary for a family of 3, including our 12 year old daughter. His communication was always timely. And then the experience itself has been wonderful. So much of the “real India” to learn about and was shared with us. Each destination was well organised, our hotels were beautiful and staff welcoming. Magan was flexible where we needed to alter along the way - we would discuss each days plans and he helped us find the right plans for that day. He was always available if we needed him. We will definitely be returning for another itinerary and experience as soon as we can. Thank you so much Magan!  ...Read More

Magic Magan
This was my first tour with Maganbhai but my family’s second tour with his company. We spent two weeks touring Himachal Pradesh and Maganbhai is a consummate professional. As we started our planning, kicked into action with very detailed and family specific questions so that he could tailor the tour to our individual and collective requirements. Maganbhai made some excellent and knowledgeable recommendations and at every location we were given a choice of quality heritage hotels to pick from. As we were travelling as a group, we were given a top range minibus and our driver, Sahil, was very professional and took great care, especially on mountain roads. During our carefully planned tour Maganbhai shared with us his incredible knowledge of each location and historical significance. At each destination, our hotel / guest in check in was very smooth and quick and our rooms were always ready. Throughout each day, Maganbhai was always available for any requirement we had and also to answer all questions. His priority throughout was to ensure that everyone had a fantastic time. Even after we finished our tour but remained in country Maganbhai generously offered to be available for all family members for any issues we might have. PHT is a top end tour company led by a highly professional tour operator, offering value for money. I wholeheartedly recommend using PHT for Maganbhai to fully cater for your next trip to India.  ...Read More

Fantastic short trip in North India with group of friends
We had an amazing trip with Heritage India Private Tours, headed by Maghan! We were a group of 8 friends from Belgium going to Rishikesh for the wedding of a mutual friend. We only had 7 days to travel North India before the wedding festivities and Heritage Tours made sure that we could complete our busy itinerary carefree. Our driver Satnayaran was an excellent driver and a funny and helpful guide on our trip. He helped us with restaurant recommendations (the food court in Jaipur!!!), tips to travel safely and to buy local gifts, certainly in his hometown of Jaipur. We visited Jodpur, Pushkar (thank you to our local guide Manoj), Jaipur (with Rajesh Parasar as an excellent guide for the fort and old city center), and the Taj Mahal in Agra with Mohammed Tariq who took the besttttt instagram pictures. Finally, Maghan was available at every hour of the day to answer questions and to give us tips to navigate India.  ...Read More
